I’m sure Apple is going hog-wild running the static analyzer on all of its applications and the operating system itself. The prospect of an automated way to discover bugs that may have existed for years in the depths of a huge codebase is almost pornographic to developers—platform owners in particular. To the degree that Mac OS X 10.6.0 is more bug-free than the previous 10.x.0 releases, LLVM surely deserves some significant part of the credit.

Anyways, as part of my ongoing self-training for iPhone development, I’m halfway through “Beginning iPhone Development - Exploring the iPhone SDK”, a book by Dave Mark and Jeff LaMarche. It’s been fun up to now and, even though I knew a lot of the initial stuff, advanced view handling with controllers was something I had lots of trouble with.

Yes, I know there have been no updates for a while, but my last few months have been crazy complicated.

Work at LucasArts has been great. I helped setup Vader masks from the Vader Project for las week’s All-Company meeting, which was fun. I’ll attach some photos soon.

My brother is visiting me and we’ve had a good time. Yesterday we walked on the beach near the Golden Gate Bridge. We saw a lot of dogs and we had to go to a shelter. We found a beautiful Terrier/Labrador Retriever mix called Atom. He is still waiting for us in the shelter. If my landlords says I can have dogs, I’ll pick him up tomorrow.

I’m now done with the first version of my 2D engine for the iPhone. I’ll start coding and design for my game project in this week, now that I have a solid, stable framework to work on.

I’m talking about animals. Today I found a beautiful cat laying in the middle of the street, almost not moving. He was bleeding from his mouth, paws and eye, he had lost his right eye and was just laying there, waiting for his death or maybe someone who could help him survive or die without so much pain.

I had to make 12 phone calls to animal shelters and emergency vet lines to actually get someone to help the poor cat. This also included 1 hour of wait for the emergency crew to show up, 2 LAPD patrol cars giving me wrong phone numbers and a shelter giving me the phone number for a Dominos Pizza instead of the LA Animal Shelter.

I felt so bad while I was there cleaning the blood off the cat’s mouth. How can we be so cruel and heartless. The minimum thing we should have is a humane, fast way of helping these poor animals when they are hurt.

Mr. Obama, if you somehow get ahold if this, please help me help the poor defenseless animals hurt by our cars. That’s the least we can do!
